The Short Version

We don't store your messages. We don't sell your data. We don't use it for ads. Your privacy isn't a feature — it's the foundation of everything we build.

This policy explains what data we collect, why, and your rights under GDPR and Danish law.

Who We Are

Screaming Donkey Studio is the data controller for the personal data processed through SmoothExit.

What We Collect

Messages You Paste

What: The incoming message you paste and your selected tone/relationship

Where it goes: Sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing, then discarded

Storage: We do NOT store your messages on our servers

Anthropic's handling: Zero data retention on API requests — your messages are not stored or used for training

Favorites & History

What: Replies you save as favorites, recent generation history

Where it's stored: Locally on your device (and iCloud for Pro users)

Why: So you can access your saved replies across sessions

Your control: Delete anytime in the app. Clear all data by deleting the app.

Device Identifier

What: A random, anonymous identifier generated on your device

Why: To enforce usage limits and prevent abuse

What it's NOT: Not your Apple ID, not your name, not personally identifiable

Your control: Deleting and reinstalling the app generates a new identifier

Usage Analytics

What: Anonymous usage patterns (which features you use, not what you write)

Why: To understand how people use the app and make it better

What we DON'T track: Message content, generated replies, personal details

Third-Party Processing

Anthropic (AI Processing)

To generate unique replies, your message is processed via Anthropic's Claude API.

  • Zero Data Retention: Anthropic does not store or use API requests for model training
  • Privacy by default: Your messages are processed and immediately discarded
  • EU Infrastructure: Our backend server is hosted in Denmark (EU)

Apple Services

  • App Store: For app distribution and in-app purchases
  • iCloud: For syncing favorites and settings (Pro users, optional)
  • StoreKit: For subscription management

Legal Basis (GDPR)

We process your data based on:

  • Contract performance: Processing messages to provide the service you requested
  • Legitimate interest: Anonymous analytics to improve the app
  • Consent: Optional features like iCloud sync (you can disable anytime)

Your Rights

Under GDPR and Danish law, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your data (though we store very little)
  • Rectification: Correct any inaccurate data
  • Erasure: Delete your data (delete the app to remove all local data)
  • Portability: Export your data in a portable format
  • Object: Object to processing based on legitimate interest
  • Withdraw consent: Disable optional features like iCloud sync

Security

We take security seriously:

  • All API communication is encrypted (HTTPS)
  • Requests are signed with HMAC to prevent tampering
  • No API keys or secrets are stored in the app
  • Rate limiting and content moderation prevent abuse
  • Local data is stored securely on your device

Children's Privacy

SmoothExit is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as SmoothExit evolves. We'll notify you of significant changes through the app. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when this policy was last revised.
